AURORA is the first large-format photography book on the Northern Lights ever to be published. Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights are among the most spectacular natural phenomena on earth. Caused by the collision between solar winds and the earth’s magnetic field, they are visible only within an approximately 500 km wide belt around the magnetic poles. In recent years photographers have shifted their emphasis from photographing the Northern Lights for purely scientific purposes to focusing on their beauty and complexity.
Ranging from the mountain peaks of Alaska to the glaciers and volcanoes of Iceland and forests of northern Scandinavia, AURORA displays a selection of the most outstanding aurora photographs of all times.
