Yoshitomo Nara
For Yoshitomo Nara's exhibiton at the Reykjavík Art Museum in 2009, Nara partnered as in all his recent exhibitions with the Graf group and his partner Hideki Toyoshima, who helped pre-organize the show in Japan. Once the exhibiton was prepared, it was sent to Reykjavík, where half of it was displayed in its shipping crates equipped with windows, doors and holes. Pictures hung on the outside and figures lurked within the nooks of the crates. In keeping with the original concept of the exhibiton, Crymogea created a catalogue that reflects the format of the showand Nara's references to children's books: the result is a board book with windows, inserts and fold outs.
Yoshitomo Nara was born in 1959. One of the leading artists of our time, his work has a strong resonance with a wide range of viewers. He currently lives and works in Tokyo.
